Town Meeting #1

Our first meeting went very well. Thank you to everyone who came out that night and participated. For those who missed the first meeting, we would love to hear from you and what your thoughts are as we move forward. Below you will find a brief description of the Comprehensive Plan Update process. You also have links to the presentation from the meeting and the issues discussed.

Please take a few moments and look through the meeting presentation and the responses we received. If we have missed something, or there is something else we need to know, or there is something that was left out that you feel is important for us to know, then please share it with us.

Feel free to contact us directly using the links on this page for email. You can also leave comments here or call the City of Heflin and have them pass your thoughts on to us. The process is open, engaging and built around public involvement. We would love to hear from you.

Brief description of the process:
The Comprehensive Plan Update is being built through engagement  of the citizens of Heflin. The goal is to produce a “bridge” document – a strategic concept for Heflin that is focused squarely on public policy toward your community’s image – that includes an agenda for action to carry out key investments and improvements to the quality of life. The planning process will put your community’s physical aspirations front and center, and will help build a constituency in support of plan implementation.

The following process will lead Heflin through an opportunities-based plan update:

o    Review existing plans
o    Adapt city map system
o    Conduct an inventory site visit
o    Evaluate the primary opportunities
o    Conduct a public planning workshop
o    Refine the results and propose recommendations
o    Present the concept for public review
